As much as I try to keep this blog posted with a review Monday through Thursday, I just keep sucking out lately. This time it’s Excedrin headache edition because, well, I came home, passed out for a good three hours and woke with the same bloody headache that kicked in some time after lunch. I’m not a huge pain killer fan, but Excedrin is one of those staples because headaches simply end me – I become more useless than Congress during peacetime.

This is why I firmly believe that Excedrin is proof that God loves us and wants us to have nice things.

Also, Excedrin + beer = proof that God’s a party animal who needs to take care of a hangover every now and again like the rest of us.

No parties for me today, but thank the maker for the Excedrin because it at least took the edge off. The pain is still lingering back there, but I’m praying by morning it will have taken leave of the right side of my head and I can finish this work week off without trying to throw myself out of the 8th floor window.

Oh, and as some manner of consolation, I should be home most of the weekend and consequently capable of conducting research and posting articles.

I hope.

Yeah, I fail… No post tonight of any significant value because I’m tired. Headed over to Hofbräuhaus to celebrate the girlfriend’s uncle’s birthday and didn’t get back until later than I had intended and well later than my mind has the intention to express itself.

And projects are behind so it was a long day at work.

Yes, yes – I know. Would I like some whine with that bitching?

The short answer would be, yes – a pinot, please. (See – bad pun. What did I warn you about?)

I put in a request, and Sarah from Phantogram generously tracked down and sent me the lyrics to the songs on their EP. I currently have the first four tracks (below), and I’ll update with “Voices” once Sarah finds the file with the lyrics (it was on a different computer from the rest) and sends it my way.

As I’ve previously mentioned, the EP is a marvelous album available for purchase via (indirectly) Phantogram’s MySpace page. Definite S&T four thumbs up, and we can’t wait until they produce a full length.

Italicized items in brackets indicate supporting vocals.

Mouthful of Diamonds

wake up
you’re getting high on your own supply
oh baby
you’re still alive when you could have died [ohoo]
the world is not around because of you
you know i’m not around because of you

you’ve got a mouthful of diamonds
and a pocketful of secrets
i know you’re never telling anyone
because the patterns they control your mind
those patterns take away my time
hello
goodbye

wasted
you tell the truth when you could have lied
and troubles are on the rise cuz you’re in disguise [ohoo]
and if it isn’t me
then pack your bags and leave
i wish i could believe blue devils won’t take you back out to the salty sea

you’ve got a mouthful of diamonds
and a pocketful of secrets
i know you’re never telling anyone
because the patterns they control your mind
those patterns take away my time
hello goodbye

Running from the Cops

[new surroundings]

my dreams will never come true
and if they ever ever do
there’s never you
i want to implode
i want it to end
and all those old feelings are coming back again

[new surroundings]

my dreams
are haunting my soul
and when i’m driving down the road
i’m not in control
i want to let go
i want to shake hands
with the person that’s responsible for this master plan

i know i will
i know i can

[new surroundings]
[this is not in your mind]

my dreams
will never come true
and if they ever ever do
it’s never you

When I’m Small

[uh uh uh uh - uh uh uh uh]

lucy’s underground
she’s got a mouth to feed
am i underground
or am i in between
lucy’s underground
she’s got a mouse to feed
am i underground
or am i in too deep

show me love
you’ve got your hand on the button now
sure enough
you’ve got your hand on the button now

[uh uh uh uh - uh uh uh uh]

lucy’s underground
she’s never coming back
am i still alive
or has the light gone black
take me underground
take me all the way
bring me to the fire
throw me in the flames

so show me love
you’ve got your hands on the button now
sure enough
you’ve got your hand on the button now

i’d rather die
i’d rather die
than to be with you.

Bloody Palms

she’s tired alone
and i’m tired of love
someday i’m gonna miss you

blood on my palms
wide eyes and holes
someday i’ll pull my teeth out

i’ll see you later in the night time
where all the colors are dark or glowing
we don’t really get along
we get down
we get down
i’ll see you later in the moonlight
where all the colors are softly fading
we don’t really wanna die
we get down
we get down

blood on my palms
wide eyes and holes
someday i’ll pull my teeth out.
