Well, it’s come to it – rafting. Yes, that time of year where mine and Les’ brother takes it upon himself to more or less organize (it’s partially free-form) a rafting outing to Ohiopyle / Youghiogheny River (pronounced yock-a-gain-ee though you wouldn’t guess it). It’s inevitably a fun outing, but it’s time and money consuming… The one serious problem with car camping is that you inevitably bring EVERYTHING you could possibly consider doing during your time there, and you preemptively buy enough food to feed a small village in Cambodia for that time.

And then there’s the case of beer for me, and the case of beer for my beloved just in case we decide to test the boundaries of alcohol poisoning during those two days. [For the record, the beer selection is split cases of Yuengling, a favorite local lager among Pennsylvanians, Corona, the wondrous brew from Mexico, and a few bottles of Yards IPA for a trial tasting.]

Anyway, to make a long ramble slightly shorter, I’ll be out in the quasi-wilderness surrounding Ohiopyle (it’s not state-land so the booze is legal) where the graces of electronic devices are but a dream in the mind of a digital junkie. Consequently, I will be prohibited from updating the site by the lack of a generator, swarms of raccoons, and roaming bands of West Virginians. I know, it’s tragic, but please don’t despair! Assuming I’m not drowned, mauled by bears, alcohol poisoned, or otherwise rendered incapable I will be back on Monday with more sound elixirs for you to mull over.

Until then!

No reviews today because coding kept me occupied way longer than I had expected, and then my mother called for tech support… So yeah. Time was swallowed up. It’s probably for the better anyway because my music palate was more or less shat upon when, on my bike-ride home, I was exposed to the somewhat-less-than-dulcet tones of gospel rap wafting out of “Teenfest” a few blocks from my house.

Longest red light ever.

It took an immediate infusion of beer to keep me from bringing harm to myself. I respect the mission of the Teenfest organizers and the way they are targeting their demographic, however I am a firm believer that when God instructed man to make a joyful noise he did not consider rap to be the vehicle of that joy. If you must use it for preaching then please be my guest, but do so in a more insulated environment… Say one of the various churches surrounding the park. Blaring it all over creation not only raises the probability of inducing seizures in some individuals, but also is likely to cause stunted growth and early mortality in flora across the park.
